Over the last few weeks, major opera houses around the world have announced their offerings for 2017-18. Now Opera Tampa has now joined the fray, revealing three major works.

To kick off their sixth season, Opera Tampa will showcase Rossini’s “The Barber of Seville” on Feb. 2, 2018, with a second performance on Feb. 4, 2018, at the Carol Morsani Hall.

That will be promptly followed by Mozart’s “The Marriage of Figaro,” which will begin on Friday, Mar. 2, 2018, with an additional show on Sunday, March 4, 2018, at Ferguson Hall.

Finally, Verdi’s “Macbeth” will end the season on Friday, Apr. 13, 2018 and Sunday, Apr 15, 2018. This production will be a first for Tampa audiences and it will also be performed at the Morsani Hall.

Each of these performances will be sung in Italian with English translations projected above the screen. In his sixth season as artistic director and conductor, Maestro Daniel Lipton will lead international casts and Opera Tampa’s Orchestra and Chorus in all three operas.

Along with these three main productions, Opera Tampa will have an Opera Gala on April 7, 2018. Audience members can also expect pre- and post- performance receptions, in addition to other special events throughout the season.
