There is some good news for the English National Opera on Tuesday as the organization has learned that has re-entered the Arts Council England’s portfolio at its current funding level of 12.38 million euros.

The organization had been dropped from the portfolio in 2015 after the ACE had “concerns” over the company’s future and stability. But with the new commitment, the company can ensure funding at around the 12.38 million euro mark between 2018 and 2022.

“ENO is very pleased to share that we have been readmitted to Arts Council England’s National Portfolio. This decision reflects the hard work and sacrifice made by every single person across the organization, including the senior team, led by Cressida Pollock. Their commitment has allowed us to build a sustainable business model, and one that I am confident will allow ENO to grow and prosper. A thriving, busy, competitive opera scene in the UK is vital if opera is going to continue to develop and flourish,” stated Dr. Harry Brunjes, Chairman of ENO.

Additionally, CEO Cressida Pollock promised to use the newfound aid to grow the company, make ticket prices affordable and increase the number of productions from eight to 10 by 2019-20.
