Elina Garanca Confirms Big Metropolitan Opera News For 2018-19

Elina Garanca has confirmed she will open the Metropolitan Opera in 2018-19.

In an interview with the Informador, the mezzo-soprano noted that she will open the season singing the role of Dalila in “Samson et Dalila.”

The mezzo-soprano also noted that she will be recording a new CD in November but did not confirm any repertoire.

Garanca is currently on tour in Mexico and later goes to Munich for “Carmen” with Bryan Hymel. She will also make her role debut as Dalila at the Vienna State Opera, where she will perform in a new production by Alexandra Liedtke alongside Roberto Alagna and Carlos Alvarez.

The Metropolitan Opera announces its 2018-19 season on Feb. 15. The new production of “Samson et Dalila” at the Met will be directed by Darko Tresniak according to earlier sources. More details will be revealed as the announcement gets closer.
