By Francisco Salazar

The San Francisco Opera has announced that it will present Mozart’s “Don Giovanni” as part of its Opera at the Ballpark series.

The company will simulcast the June 30 performance from the War Memorial Opera House at the AT&T Park which will reach up to 30,000 fellow attendees. Audience members will get to enjoy food while watching the opera and will also get a chance to choose between watching the opera in the stands or on the field.

The event is free but those who want to get in early have to register.

The Opera in the Ballpark experience is one of the many ways the San Francisco Opera has used to broaden the reach of opera. The June 30 “Don Giovanni” will star Ildebrando d’Arcangelo, Erin Wall, Ana María Martinez, Stanislas de Barbeyrac and Marco Vinco. The opera will be conducted by Marc Minkowski in his San Francisco Opera debut and will be directed Jacopo Spirei in his San Francisco debut.

The San Francisco Opera summer season will also include Puccini’s “La Bohème” with Arturo Chacón-Cruz and Erika Grimaldi. The company will also showcase Verdi’s “Rigoletto” with Quinn Kelsey in the title role.
