Diana Damrau, Nadine Sierra Among Stars at Bastille Day Concert in Paris

Opera fans in Paris will be treated to an operatic extravaganza on Friday, July 14, as part of the celebration of Bastille Day.

The performance will feature the Orchestre National de Paris under the direction of Valery Gergiev.

The program will feature such artists as Nadine Sierra, Bryan Hymel, Ludovic Tézier, Diana Damrau, Anita Rachvelishvili, among other soloists. The quintet of singers will perform solo arias as well as a wide range of duets throughout the evening. Hymel and Tézier will join voices for the duet from “Don Carlo” while Rachvelishvili and Sierra will join forces for the flower duet from “Lakmé.” Damrau will also perform with violinist Renaud Capuçon in Strauss’ “Morgen,” among other things. Repertoire will vary from Verdi to Mozart, Berlioz, Gounod, Strauss, Brahms, and Puccini among many others. The concert will be live streamed via France Inter and presented on France 2.

The festivities kick off at 9 p.m. local time.
