Leonard Slatkin will celebrate his 10th anniversary with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra in grand form.

While the season will include some of the most important classical musicians in the industry, the year will conclude with Puccini’s “Turandot.”  On June 8 and 10, Slatkin will conduct Puccini’s final opera in partnership with Michigan Opera Theatre. The opera will star Othalie Graham in the title role and will be joined by Guanqun Yu in the role of Liu. Tenor Jonathan Burton will sing the role of Calaf while bass Hao Jiang Tian will portray Timur.

The season will also include numerous works by Beethoven, Schumann, Wagner, Ravel, Berlioz, and Saint-Saëns.

Graham is a rising star who has been singing all over the world in some of the most dramatic opera works in the repertoire. She is scheduled for the title role in Strauss’ “Elektra,” at the Teatro San Carlo and “Turandot” with Opera Knoxville and Malaga. Burton is a rising star who recently sang in Verdi’s “Un Ballo in Maschera” with the Florida Grand Opera. He is scheduled for Puccini’s “Tosca” with Boston Lyric Opera and Opera Omaha next season as well as Strauss’ “Ariadne Auf Naxos” with the Austin Opera.
