The New York Choral Society is set to perform a concert entitled “My Shadow and My Light.”

The concert set for Nov. 12, 2018, at Carnegie Hall, will showcase Barber’s choral arrangement of his famous Adagio – “Agnus Dei.” a rarely performed piece, the work that showcases the same simplicity and gut-wrenching emotional power of its orchestral counterpart.

The concert will also showcase Michael Tippett’s “A Child of Our Time” and Gerald Finzi’s “Requiem da Camera,” commemorating the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I and the 80th anniversary of Kristallnacht.

The concert will also feature David Portillo, Gabriella Reyes, Nathaniel Sullivan, Zole Reams, and Luthando Qave. David Hayes conducts the evening.

The New York Choral Society will return to feature other performances in December in February. The organization’s holiday concert, “A Ceremony of Carols,” will take place on December 20, 2018 at 7:30 p.m. at Saint Peter’s Church on Lexington Avenue. The group will then perform Arthur Honegger’s “King David”at Central Synagogue on February 28, 2019.
