David Bizic, Ginger Costa-Jackson & Marco Ciaponi Headline Opera De Toulon’s 2018-19 Season

The Opera de Toulon has announced its 2018-19 season, featuring rarely performed works, modern operas and a number of classics.

Here is a look at what the company will showcase next season.

Productions 

Francesco Landolfi stars in the title role of Verdi’s “Rigoletto” with Marco Ciaponi and Mihaela Marcu. Daniel Montané conducts Elena Barbalich’s production.

Performance Dates: Oct. 5-9, 2018

Anna Maria Sarra,  Yael Raanan-Vandor, Marco Ciaponi, and Edwin Crossley-Mercer star in Mozart’s Requiem with Jurjen Hempel conducting. The performance will also include Schubert’s Symphony No. 8.

Performance Dates: Nov. 9-11, 2018

Marion Lebègue, Pierre-Emmanuel Roubet, and Mathieu Gardo star in Rossini’s “Un Barbier.” The co-production with the Champs Elysses is directed Damien Robert and is conducted by Adrien Perruchon.

Performance Dates: Dec. 6, 2018

Ginger Costa-Jackson stars in Rossini’s “Il Barbiere di Siviglia” with Juan José de León, Pablo Ruiz and Vincenzo Nizzardo. Adriano Sinivia directs the production with Jurjen Hempel conducting.

Perfromance Dates: Dec. 28-31, 2018

Rebeka Lokar takes on the title role of Puccini’s “Turandot” with Adriana Gonzalez, Amadi Lagha, and Luiz-Ottavio Faria. Jurjen Hempel conducts.

Performance Dates: Jan. 25-29, 2019

Léo Warynski conducts Reverdy’s “Le Cosmicomiche” starring Francesco Biamonte, Valentine Lemercier, and Judith Fa. Victoria Duhamel directs the opera.

Performance Dates: March 12, 2019

Santiago Ballerini, David Bizic, Pablo Ruiz, and Lucrezia Drei star in a revival of Donizetti’s “L’Elisir d’Amore” with Valerio Galli conducting.

Performance Dates: March 22-26, 2019

Menotti’s “Amélia va au Bal” and “Le Téléphone”get a double bill with Micaëla Oeste and Guillaume Andrieux starring in both operas. Sylvie Laligne directs while Jurjen Hempel conducts.

Performance Dates: April 26-28, 2019

Szymon Mechliński sings the title role in Tchaikovsky’s “Eugene Onegin” with Natalia Pavlova as Tatiana. Pavel Valuzhin and Andrey Valentiy also star with Dalia Stasevska conducts.

Performance Dates: March 24-28, 2019
