Daniel Harding Cancels Festival Aix-En-Provence’s ‘The Rakes Progress’

Daniel Harding has canceled his upcoming engagements as conductor for Festival Aix-En-Provence’s upcoming production of Stravinsky’s “The Rake’s Progress.”

The conductor was slated to conduct five performances between July 5 and 18, 2017.

As a result, Eivind Gullberg Jensen will take over. The Norwegian conductor recently conducted the Finnish National Opera in concert as well as a new production of “The Rake’s Progress.” He conducted “Tosca” for New National Theatre Tokyo and for concerts with the New Japan Philharmonic. He also recently made his debut at Opéra de Lille with “Der fliegende Holländer” and Wiener Staatsoper conducting “Tosca.”

The new production by Simon McBurney will star Julia Bullock, Paul Appleby, Kyle Ketelsen and David Pittsinger. It is a co-production with the Dutch National Opera, Amsterdam in collaboration with Complicite, London.
