By David Salazar

David Lomeli is the new Director of Artistic Administration at the Dallas Opera.

The company noted in a press release on Friday, July 13, 2018 that it had also made Drew Field its Director of Productions and Technical Operations.

Lomeli was working with the company as its Casting Manager and Manager of the Hart Institute for Women Conductors while Field was the company’s Technical Director.

“Drew has shown himself to be diplomatic whenever possible, yet, tough-as-nails when he had to be, in order to ensure the safety of cast and crew during every moment of every performance for the last several decades,” stated Interim General Director and CEO Kern Wildenthal in a press release.

“David Lomeli’s transition from a stellar career onstage as a starring tenor to the backstage life of an artistic administrator has been quick and utterly remarkable,” added Dallas Opera Music Director Emmanuel Villaume.  “David’s encyclopedic knowledge of the repertoire and the field, as well as his impeccable and expert taste in voices, have contributed to his current status as an indispensable reference in our industry.”

Lomeli was proud to make the announcement via Facebook, adding, “I am so thrilled to get to work with so many friends and to start at the same time that our new General Director Ian Derrer in Dallas. Can’t wait for the planning meetings at the golf range with Ian and Emmanuel Villaume to commence!”
