COVID-19 allegedly continues to strike the ailing Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg.

According to the Rosbalt website, the infection seriously damaged the health of several artists of the opera choir.

A source from Mariinsky told Rosbalt that during the tour in Vladivostok, one of the performers had to be taken to the hospital for treatment. The Fifth International Mariinsky Far East Festival is being held in Vladivostok.

Sources from the Mariinsky Theatre have also previously spoken to Rosbalt about the complex epidemiological situation in the famed St. Petersburg’s cultural institution. The Office of the Chief State Sanitary Physician of the Russian Federation Rospotrebnadzor has, to this point, officially confirmed the infection of about thirty artists of the Mariinsky with COVID-19.
