Starting this weekend Connecticut Lyric Opera will debut its fully staged production of Puccini’s “Tosca.” On May 12, 2017, the doors will open at 7:30 p.m. EDT at the Trinity Arts Center in New Britain, CT.

The show will go on the road and open Sunday, May 14, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. EDT at the Wadsworth Museum of Art in Hartford, then it’ll begin at 7:30 p.m. EDT at the Garde Arts Center in New London on Saturday, May 20, 2017, and the last performance will take place at MHS Arts Center in Middletown at 7:30 p.m EDT on May 26, 2017.

Soprano Jurate Svedaite will lead each of the productions in the title role. She has performed all over the United States and Europe, with previous roles in Violetta in “La Traviata,” Mimi in “la Boheme,” and Contessa in “Le Nozze di Figaro.”

Bass-baritone Steven Fredericks plans to show the audience just how versatile he is in his role as Scarpia in “Tosca.” His most notable roles include Signorelli in the world premiere of Louis Gioia’s “Un Racconto Fiorentino” among many other world premieres.

Bass Andrew Potter has performed around the country and will bring his “larger than life” stage presence to the production. Last but not least, tenor Daniel Juarez, a fixture at CLO, will complete the cast for “Tosca,” taking on the role of Mario Cavaradossi.

The performances will all be sung in Italian with English supertitles projected above the stage.
