Cincinnati Opera 2018 Summer Season To Include ‘As One’ And ‘Another Brick In The Wall’

The Cincinnati Opera has announced its 2018 summer festival.

The festival kicks off with Verdi’s “La Traviata” on June 14, 2018. French soprano Norah Amsellem will sing the title role with Korean tenor Ji-Min Park as her lover Alfredo. Korean baritone Youngjoo An will make his company debut singing the role of Giorgio Germont. Bliss Hebert will stage direct the production designed by Allen Charles Klein and Renato Balsadonna will conduct. Subsequent performances will take place on June 16, 20, and 22, 2018.

It will be followed by the company premiere of Monteverdi’s ‘The Coronation of Poppea.” Anthony Roth Costanzo makes his Cincinnati Opera debut singing the role of Nerone alongside Grammy-nominated American soprano Talise Trevigne as Drusilla. American countertenor Aryeh Nussbaum Cohen is set to sing the role of Poppea’s former lover, Ottone, and American bass Alex Rosen will take on the elder statesman Seneca. Trevigne, Cohen, and Rosen will all be making their Cincinnati Opera debuts. The opera will be shown on June 21, 23, 26 28 and July 1, 2018.

Wagner’s “The Flying Dutchman” gets a new production on July 5 and 7, 2018. American soprano Marcy Stonikas portrays Senta while Canadian bass-baritone Nathan Berg makes his company debut as the Dutchman. American tenor, Jay Hunter Morris will make his company debut as Senta’s fiancé, Erik, while American mezzo-soprano Elizabeth Bishop appears as Mary.

On July 20, Roger Water’s “Another Brick in The Wall” will make its U.S premiere. The opera, which transformed Pink Floyd’s “The Wall” will also be shown on July 26, 28 and 31, 2018.

Laura Kaminsky, Kimberly Reed and Mark Campbell’s “As One” makes its company premiere in July 2018 and the company also gives an opera in the Parks concert on June 10, 2018.
