CD/DVD Releases-Week of June 5: Olga Peretyatko & Jose Bros Leads This Week’s New Releases

This week will feature three high profile releases, allowing for a unique exploration of music from some of the most recognized performers around the world.

Russian Light 

Olga Peretyatko returns with a new album for Sony Classical. This time she explores the Russian repertoire in works by Rimsky-Korsakov, Glinka, Rachmaninoff, Stravinsky and rare pieces from Shostakovich. The album is conducted by Dmitry Liss and features the Ural Philharmonic Orchestra. It also marks her fourth album for Sony.

Ottone 

Decca releases Handel’s “Ottone” with Il Pomo d’oro under the direction of George Petrou. The work stars Max Cencic in the title role and continues Decca’s exploration of baroque music.

Don Carlo 

Jose Bros joins Michele Pertusi in Verdi’s “Don Carlo” from the Teatro Regio di Parma. The cast also includes Marianne Cornetti and Vladimir Stoyanov. The Dynamic release will see the Act Four version on CD first and later on DVD.
