Two important recordings will be released this week, including one world premiere and another continuing an acclaimed Mozart opera. Here is a look!
The Cradle Will Rock
Bridge Records will release the world premiere recording of Marc Blitzstein’s opera. The new recording features the composer’s original 1937 orchestrations and was recorded live at Opera Saratoga in July 2017. The recording features such stars as Ginger Costa-Jackson, Keith Jameson, Christopher Burchett, Audrey Babcock, and Matt Boehler. John Mauceri conducts.
La Clemenza di Tito
Rolando Villazón and Yannick Nézet-Séguin continue their Mozart series. This time they take on Mozart’s “La Clemenza di Tito” with a cast that includes Marina Rebeka, Joyce DiDonato, Tara Erraught, Regula Mühlemann, and Adam Plachetka. Deutsche Grammophon releases the star-studded recording. The series continues next year with “Die Zauberflöte” with Villazón as Papageno and Nézet-Séguin conducting.
