Carmen Giannattasio has announced that her surgery was a success.

The soprano, who revealed that she had been singing with an injury back in July, posted on Facebook that her “[knee] operation was very successful thanks to the amazing surgeon’s crew at Clinica Pio XI in Rome [led] by internationally awarded orthopedic Doctor Augusto Palermo to whom I am very grateful. I also want to thank the nurse’s staff for being incredibly supportive, sweet and professional. Especially Barbara who also plays piano.” She added, “Have a very nice summer friends and see you soon for the next adventure in Astana”

Last month Giannattasio announced that even though she was under extreme pain she would continue to perform. She said, “Hello Friends, unfortunately, my knee is again under pain. I’ve partially broken meniscus during last rehearsals and as soon as I terminate this summer run, will operate and fix it. Meanwhile wearing a brace which is not very appealing but helping me a lot,” she wrote on social media. “Being an Opera Singer can be dangerous.”

Giannattasio heads on tour with La Scala to Kazakstan for a performance of Verdi’s “Falstaff” before taking on her acclaimed Leonora in Vienna’s production of “Il Trovatore.” She is also slated to sing Verdi’s “I Masnadieri” in Bilbao and “I Pagliacci” at the Royal Opera House.
