Carla Caramujo To Present Mad Scenes At The Teatro Mayor

The Teatro Mayor will present a recital entitled “Belleza y Locura” featuring soprano Carla Caramujo and Colombian pianist Alejandro Roca.

The recital will showcase arias from opera, featuring fragile heroines who end up going mad. The program will feature mad scenes from Thomas’ “Hamlet,” Bellini’s “I Puritani,” and Donizetti’s “Lucia di Lammermmoor.” The recital will also include three songs by Richard Strauss expressing Ophelia’s madness from “Hamlet.”

Carmujo is one of the most acclaimed singers of Portugal receiving rave reviews all over the world. She is a winner of such competitions as Concurso Nacional de Canto Luísa Todi (Portugal), Musikförderpreis der Hans-Sachs- Loge (Nuremberg), Dewar Award, Chevron Excellence and Ye Cronies Awards (United Kingdom). Caramujo has recently been active in Portugal performing recitals, concerts, and oratorio.

The recital will be held on May 10, 2018.
