By David Salazar

The Opéra National de Paris has announced that it will stream Gounod’s “Faust” from the Opéra Bastille on Friday, March 26, 2021.

Audiences will be able to watch the performance on France 5; the performance will then be made available for repeat viewings on Culturebox for six months. It will also be released in cinemas at a later date.

The opera will star Benjamin Bernheim as Faust with Ermonela Jaho as Marguerite, Christian Van Horn as Mephistophélès, and Florian Sempey as Valentin. Lorenzo Viotti is set to conduct. The opera is directed by Tobias Kratzer.

The production of “Faust” is still scheduled for performances with a live audience between April 6 and 21, if conditions permit. That run of performances will star Stephen Costello in the title role, Anita Hartig as Marguerite, and John Relyea as Mephistophélès.
