By Francisco Salazar

The Bayreuth Festival has announced that in 2019, the festival will travel to two different countries.

The festival announced that on Jan. 30 and Feb. 1, it will travel to Abu Dhabi for Wagner’s “Die Walküre” as part of the Abu Dhabi Classics in 2019.

In March, the company will travel to Tokyo for “Der Fliegende Holländer.”

The announcement comes after the company announced that Anna Netrebko and Valery Gergiev would be making highly anticipated debuts next season as well. The Bayreuth Festival recently opened with a new production of “Lohengrin,” which included the first American director to helm a work at the festival and the first Polish tenor to sing a leading role with the company. Next up Plácido Domingo will make his debut conducting “Die Walküre.”
