Bayerische Staatsoper Streams ‘Tannhäuser’ Starring Anja Harteros, Klaus Florian Vogt This Weekend

By David Salazar

This weekend, audiences not able to head to Munich will get a chance to see a live performance of Wagner’s “Tannhäuser” from the Staatsoper.

The performance kicks off at 9:45 p.m. CET, though the performance officially kicks off at 6 p.m. local time on Sunday July 9 and features Kirill Petrenko at the podium, leading the production by Romeo Castellucci.

The opera stars Klaus Florian Vogt in the title role with Anja Harteros as Elisabeth. Harteros has, of course, turned in many into the main attraction, the soprano recently getting a feature story in the New York Times.

The production also includes Georg Zeppenfeld as Hermann, Christian Gerhaher as Wolfram, Dean Power as Walther, and Elena Pankratova as Venus.

The performance will be streamed live via Arte with the aforementioned delay.

The company is also showcasing “Oberon” as the last broadcast of the season, the performance coming on July 30, 2017.

Other broadcasts from the 2016-17 season include “Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg,” “La Favorite,” “Lady Macbeth von Mzensk,” Semiramide,” “Andrea Chénier,” and “The Stigmatized.”
