Baden-Baden Festival’s ‘Tosca,’ Starring Kristine Opolais, To Be Live Streamed

On April 17, Puccini’s “Tosca” will be transmitted on Arte.tv.

The production from the Baden-Baden Festival will star Kristine Opolais and Marcelo Alvarez in the lead roles while Evgeny Nikitin will star as Scarpia. Sir Simon Rattle conducts the Berlin Philharmonic in Philipp Himmelman’s new production.

Opolais is best known for her work in Puccini and is one of the most sought-after Cio-Cio San interpreters around the world and her work as “Manon Lescaut” has been acclaimed. She is slated to star as Tosca in the Metropolitan Opera’s new production.

Alvarez has performed all around the world headlining numerous new productions in New York, Paris, Vienna, and London. He has specialized in the verismo and Verdi repertoire. He will also star in the Met’s new “Tosca” production next season.

The opera will begin at 20:50 European time.
