By Logan Martell

On Nov. 13, 2020, Mexican tenor Arturo Chacon-Cruz released his newest album “A Christmas Wonderland,” comprised of 14 favorites and meant to help kindle a sense of holiday spirit during these uncertain times.

For this album, Chacon-Cruz collaborated with pianist Roberto Berrocal, and noted producer and sound engineer Rafa Sardina. Recorded in 2019, the album was originally titled “I’m Coming Home for Christmas,” and reflects the feelings of nostalgia, and even loneliness, experienced by Chacon as a traveling artist who was often away for the holidays.

A winner of the 2005 Operalia, Chacon-Cruz has also been awarded the 2017 Star of the Year award from San Francisco Opera. During the pandemic, he has presented 43 concerts to audiences via Facebook, where he has reached over 4 million viewers. The tenor is currently set to play Rodolfo in SFO’s upcoming production of Puccini’s “La Boheme.”
