Artur Ruciński To Replace George Petean In Chicago’s “Il Trovatore’

George Petean has canceled his upcoming performances of “Il Trovatore” at the Lyric Opera of Chicago.

The company announced that due to illness Petean would not be able to perform the role of Conte di Luna. As a result, Polish baritone Artur Ruciński, who will be making his Lyric debut, will replace Petean.

Ruciński recently canceled performances at the San Francisco Opera due to an accident and announced that he was recovering and would be back on stage for “La Bohème” in Bilbao. He is also scheduled to perform at the Opera de Monte-Carlo in “Luisa Miller” and will return to the Metropolitan Opera for a new production of “La Traviata.” He also sings a production of “Iolanta” at the Opera National de Paris.

“Il Trovatore” Opens Nov. 17 and also stars Tamara Wilson, Jamie Barton, and Russell Thomas. Marco Armiliato conducts.
