Arena di Verona Announces 2022 Season Celebrating 99 Years

The Arena di Verona has announced its 2022 season which will celebrate the organization’s 99th year.

The season will feature 45 evenings with five opera productions and three special events taking place between June 17 and Sept. 4.

The season opens with Bizet’s “Carmen” the legendary production which was in fact the 1995 Arena debut of Franco Zeffirelli.

Performance Dates: June 17-August 27, 2022

Verdi’s “Aida” returns to the stage in Franco Zeffirelli’s production with costumes by Anna Anni.

Performance Dates: June 18-Sept. 4, 2022

The third production of the season will be Verdi’s “Nabucco” in the 2017 Festival staging by Arnaud Bernard.

Performance Dates: June 25-Sept. 3, 2022

The fourth opera of the 2022 Festival will be Verdi’s “La Traviata,” presented in Franco Zeffirelli’s final production for the Arena di Verona.

Performance Dates: July 2-Sept. 1, 2022

Puccini’s “Turandot” is the final opera of the season. Audiences will see Franco Zeffirelli’s classic production with costumes by Academy Award winner Emi Wada.

Performance Dates: August 7-Sept. 2, 2022

Galas

The summer of 2022 will showcase three galas starting with one by Roberto Bolle and Friends. It will be a true celebration of Dance in all its forms.

Performance Dates: July 20, 2022

Carmina Burana will be performed as a tribute to Ezio Bosso.

Performance Date: August 12, 2022

Plácido Domingo will return for an evening of Verdi dedicated to the principal roles of the Busseto genius.

Performance Date: August 25, 2022
