Antonio Pappano has confirmed he will continue his post at the Royal Opera House.

After much speculation that the conductor would be leaving the Royal Opera House, Pappano has confirmed he will continue in his post as Music Director until the end of the 2022-23 season.

The announcement, which will come on Monday, Nov. 5, 2018, will also come with the announcement that Pappano will take a sabbatical during the 2019-20 season in order to conduct at the Metropolitan Opera, Teatro alla Scala, and the Staatsoper Berlin.

In an interview with the Guardian, he said, “I’m happy to guest conduct, which I’ve hardly done for the past decade. I’ll also work with young musicians. As a conductor, you are also a teacher. There’s no voodoo involved.”

Pappano next conducts “The Queen of Spades” at the Royal Opera House.
