Anna Netrebko graces the small screen on August 13, 2017, as PBS showcases Tchaikovsky’s “Eugene Onegin” on Great Performances.

The soprano received rave reviews when the production was revived in the spring. OperaWire noted, “Netrebko’s interpretation of Tchaikovsky’s operatic masterwork was an in-your-face reminder that she is singular among modern opera’s elite superstars.”

The diva is joined by Peter Mattei in the title role and Alexey Dolgov as Lenski. Elena Maximova takes on the role of Olga while Stefan Kocan sings his acclaimed Prince Gremin.

PBS will showcase the performance at 12:30 pm in New York and 12 p.m. elsewhere.

Following the broadcast, PBS still has Strauss’ “Der Rosenkavalier” featuring Renee Fleming in her farewell to the Marschaliin. Alongside will be a star-studded cast that includes Elina Garanca, Erin Morley and Gunther Groissböck. The series then kicks off again in January with a broadcast of Bellini’s “Norma,” starring Sondra Radvanovsky, Joyce DiDonato and Joseph Calleja.
