The Salzburg Osterfestpiele has announced its lineup for 2018.

The opera that will headline the festival will be Puccini’s “Tosca” starring German soprano Anja Harteros. The soprano is currently portraying Sieglinde at the festival in a new production of Wagner’s “Die Walküre.” She will be joined by Latvian tenor Aleksandrs Antonenko and the production will also star French baritone Ludovic Tezier.

The production will be directed by Philipp Stölzl, who previously directed “Cavalleria Rusticana” and “Pagliacci” at the Salzburg Osterfestpiele. He has also directed Giordano’s “Andrea Chénier” at the Bayerische Staatsoper and “Il Trovatore” at the Berlin Staatsoper.

Christian Thielemann will conduct the opera.

Meanwhile, Elina Garanca will headline Mahler’s Symphony No.3, which will also be conducted by Thielemann.

This season the company is celebrating its 50th anniversary and is paying homage to Herbert Von Karajan, who established the festival in 1967.
