Angela Gheorghiu To Receive Puccini Award

Angela Gheorghiu is scheduled to recieve the Premio Puccini on Dec. 14, 2018.

The soprano will be recognized with the prestigious award for her memorable Puccini interpretations in “Tosca,” “Turandot,” La Rondine,” and “La Bohème” by the Sindacate of Viareggio Giorgio del Ghingaro and the President of the of the Alberto Veronessi foundation.

The ceremony will take place at the Enrico Caruso Hall at the Gran Teatro Giacomo Puccini at 9 p.m. local time.

Gheorghiu is one of today’s leading sopranos who has performed all over the world in every major theater. She recently released a biography and is set to return to the Deutsche Oper Berlin for performances in “La Bohème.” She will also return to the Royal Opera House for “Tosca” and will go on tour in Bulgaria, Japan, and Switzerland.

Gheorghiu has recorded four complete Puccini operas on CD and four Puccini DVDs. She also recorded a solo album of Puccini arias.
