Angela Gheorghiu to Receive Honoris Causa

The University of Bucharest will honor Angela Gheorghiu with a doctorate Honoris Causa on May 29, 2017.

The superstar soprano is recognized worldwide for her beautiful voice and the intensity she brings to every role she sings.

She is recognized for her work in Puccini’s “La Bohème” and “Tosca” as well as for her breakout role in Verdi’s “La Traviata.” She has also sung the role of Amelia in Verdi’s “Simon Boccanegra” and Gounod’s “Faust” and “Roméo et Juliette.” She is also well know for her interpretation of the title role in Cilea’s “Adriana Lecouvreur.”

She has recorded numerous CDs for Warner Classics and has a number of DVDs available.

She is scheduled to sing the title role of “Adriana Lecouvreur” at the Teatro Massimo di Palermo and “Tosca” in Japan. She will also release a new CD later this year for Warner Classics.
