Angela Gheorghiu Announces Her New CD From Warner Classics

By Francisco Salazar

Angela Gheorghiu has announced her first album for Warner Classics in six years.

The soprano announced the new record in a video message where she revealed that the album will be dedicated to Verismo arias and duets. She also said that she recorded the album with Emmanuel Villaume and the Prague Philharmonic. The album, which will be titled “Eternamente,” is scheduled for release this autumn.

Alain Lanceron, President, Warner Classics & Erato, said: “Angela Gheorghiu had not recorded a recital since her ‘Homage to Maria Callas’ more than six years ago. At last, she has returned to the studio in the repertoire closest to her heart. This will be without a doubt one of the most highly-anticipated releases of the season, and one Warner Classics is particularly proud to present.”

Gheorghiu recently celebrated her 25th anniversary at the Royal Opera House performing her signature role of “Adriana Lecouvreur.” The soprano is next scheduled to make her debut in the same role at the Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires and will also perform the role at the Teatro Massimo di Palermo.

Gheorghiu is one of the most in-demand sopranos of her generation and she has worked with Warner Classics for years. The company recently released a box set of all her solo recordings and of her London recital.
