Jonas Kaufmann and Angela Gheorghiu have canceled the final performance of Puccini’s “Tosca” at the Vienna State Opera.

The theater announced that due to illness both would no longer be singing on the May 11 performance.

Martina Serafin and Aleksandrs Antonenko will now take over the performance.

Kaufmann sang the first two performances of the run. The tenor now goes to Amsterdam and Hamburg for recitals before going to London for his role debut as Verdi’s “Otello.” He is also slated to appear at the Munich Opera Festival where he will reprise his acclaimed Andrea Chenier in Giordano’s opera and sing in Verdi’s ‘La Forza del Destino.”

Meanwhile, Gheorghiu goes to Japan for another set of “Tosca” performances before taking on the title role of “Adriana Lecouvreur” in Cilea’s opera in Palermo. The soprano is also scheduled for recitals in the Czech Republic and Belgium.
