Andrea Bocelli Lambasted By Fans Over Decision to Sing At Donald Trump Inauguration

By David Salazar

Andrea Bocelli is one of the most popular artists in the world. His voice is legendary and his ability to bridge the popular with the operatic has made him an icon.

But the tenor, often beloved for his warm voice, is now getting some major backlash after announcing that he will be the singer of repute at the Inauguration of Donald Trump on Jan. 20.

As has become the norm during the last few weeks, a call for Boycotts is the order of the day with a new #BoycottBocelli trend circulating online.

To put it bluntly, people online are going so far as to threaten to throw out his albums and stop listening to his music if he continues with his plan to sing at the inauguration.

“Dear Andrea Bocelli, you bring so much joy and beauty to the world that I was shocked to hear you might perform at Trumps inauguration!! I BEG OF YOU TO RECONSIDER! He is the opposite of everything you represent and this connection will forever be a stain in your image. I for one, will never look at you the same way again. Please, don’t do it!” wrote Isa Kendall on Facebook according to Chron.

The term “Boycott” has been thrown about rather loosely since the November 8 election with Trump detractors calling for stores to discard any products from the President-elects businesses. But Trump supporters have also gotten on into the boycott backtalk, calling on fellow voters of the President-Elect to boycott the recent Star Wars film “Rogue One,” which they somehow saw as an assault on their candidates policies.

“Star Wars writers rewrote and reshot Rogue One to add in Anti Trump scenes calling him a racist. Disgusting.#DumpStarWars,” tweeted popular Pro-Trump supporter @JackPosobiec.

Bocelli recently released an album “Cinema” and was a special guest at the Richard Tucker gala.

According to the Boston Globe, the inauguration organizers were struggling to find artists willing to commit to the event. John Legend and Elton John publicly stated that they would not consider the event at all.
