Ana María Martinez, Kirsten Chambers and Anthony Roth Costanzo Headline Florida Grand Opera’s 77th Season

The Flordia Grand Opera has announced its 2017-18 Season and it is a star-studded lineup.

The season opens on Nov. 11, 2017, with Ana Christy in the title role of Donizetti’s “Lucia di Lammermoor.” She is joined by Joshua Guerrero in the role of Edgardo in his Florida Grand debut. The opera is conducted by Alexander Polianichko and will be performed five times.

It will be followed by Richard Strauss’ “Salome” with Melody Moore and Kirsten Chambers alternating the difficult title role. Both will make their Florida Grand debuts with Mark Delevan, also making his company debut. Elizabeth Bishop rounds out the cast, also in her first at-bat with Florida Grand Opera. There will be five performances of the opera.

The third offering for the season will be Gluck’s “Orfeo” with Anthony Roth Costanzo making his debut with the company and alternating with rising star John Holiday. Euridice will be portrayed by  Cuban-American soprano Eglise Gutiérrez. The opera begins on March 17 through the 31.

The final opera of the season will be Daniel Catán’s lyrical masterpiece “Florencia en el Amazonas.” Ana María Martínez stars in the acclaimed production with Steven LaBrie, Cecilia Violetta López, and Andrew Bidlack. Audiences will get a chance to see the work from April 28 through May 5.
