By David Salazar

Amore Opera is back in full swing as the company puts out two productions to close out the year.

The company will bring back Strauss’ “Die Fledermaus” on Dec. 27 through Jan. 1, 2017 after presenting the work on Dec. 17 and 18. The new run of performances will start at 7:30 p.m. EST every single day of the week leading to a New Year’s Gala on Dec. 31. That performance kicks off at 7:30 p.m. EST with tickets starting at $125. This event features dinner as well. Prices for other performances range from $39.50 through $75 for Premium seats.

The other opera that the company will be showcasing is Humperdinck’s “Hansel and Gretel.” Every performance of this work will start at 2:30 p.m. between Dec. 27 and Dec. 30. The running time for this production is approximately 90 minutes. Tickets for “Hansel and Gretel” are $30. The work is offered as part of the company’s “Opera-in-Brief” series which features abbreviated versions of popular operas aimed at younger audiences.

All performances for both operas will take place at Theater at St. Jean’s which is located at 184 East 76th street in New York City.

The Amore Opera came about after the closing of the famed Amato Opera Theatre in 2009 when the musicians that formed that previous company came together. The company secured the sets, costumes and props of Amato Opera Theater.
