Alexandra LoBianco Replaces Elza Van Den Heever In ‘Elektra’

By Francisco Salazar

Elza van den Heever has canceled tonight’s performance of Strauss’ “Elektra.”

The Lyric Opera of Chicago announced Van den Heever is suffering from a cold and as a result the role of Chrysothemis will be sung by Alexandra LoBianco.

This season, LoBianco has been at the Lyric Opera covering the role of Brünnhilde in “Siegfried” and Chrysothemis in “Elektra.” She has also been performing the Fourth Maid in ”Elektra.” She will also join North Carolina Opera for the title role in “Tosca” and will perform Senta in “Der fliegende Holländer” with Baltimore Concert Opera, and Mahler’s Symphony No. 8 with Madison Symphony, where she previously sang Rachmaninoff’s “The Bells.”

LoBianco joins Nina Stemme and Michaela Martens. Donald Runnicles conducts.
