By Francisco Salazar

Aleksandra Kurzak has signed a contract to record with Sony Classical.

The company announced that the Polish soprano, who was formerly with Decca, will release her first recording under the new contract this autumn. That album will be a duets recording with her husband Roberto Alagna, who signed with Sony back in January. Kurzak will also record a solo album set for spring of 2019.

Kurzak, who holds a PhD in music, started her career performing lighter soprano roles and has recently begun expanding her repertoire into the more lyric and dramatic roles. She is set to perform “Luisa Miller” next season, as well as Desdemona in “Otello.” According to Gramophone she will also make her role debut as Elisabetta in “Don Carlo” in a future season.
