Ainhoa Arteta, Rihab Chaieb & Sergey Romanovsky Headline Teatro Municipal’s 2019 Season

The Teatro Municipal de Santiago, Chile has announced its 2019 season, bringing together a variety of classics and some of today’s rising stars.

Here is a look!

2019 Season 

The season opens with “ÓPERA MÍA,” a gala celebrating the art form featuring soloists Patricia Cifuentes, Paulina González, Evelyn Ramírez, Francisco Huerta, and Patricio Sabaté. Pedro-Pablo Prudencio conducts.

Performance Dates: Jan. 15-17, 2019

The first production of the season will be Verdi’s “La Forza del Destino,” which returns to the theater for the first time in 60 years. Stefano Vizioli directs a new production with Konstantin Chudovsky. The cast includes Irina Churilova and Lilit Soghomonyan sharing the role of Leonora, while Giancarlo Monsalve and
Sung Kyu Park share the role of Don Alvaro. Vitaliy Bilyy and Ricardo López round out the cast splitting time in the role of Don Carlo.

Performance Dates: April 15-24, 2019

Following the Colombian premiere of “Der Rosenkavalier,” Alejandro Chacón brings his production to Chile with Maximiano Valdés conducting the Strauss masterpiece. Celine Byrne and Paulina González sing the Marchallin, Michael Eder and Johannes Stermann share Baron Ochs. Paula Murrihy and Ewelina Rakoca will alternate as Octavian. Elbenita Kajtazi and Catalina Bertucci round out the cast alternating Sophie.

Performance Dates: June 12-19, 2019

Pierre Constant directs a new production of “Così Fan Tutte,” finishing up the Mozart trilogy.

Attilio Cremonesi conducts the production with Rihab Chaieb, Paulina Gonzalez, Marcela González, Joel Prieto, Joan Martin-Royo, and Jose Fardilha leading the first cast. Andrea Aguilar, Evelyn Ramírez, Patricia Cifuentes,  Santiago Burgi, Eleomar Cuello, and Patricio Sabaté also star in the second cast.

Performance Dates: July 19-27, 2019

Handel’s “Rodelinda” makes its Chilean premiere with Sabina Puértolas in the title role. Xavier Sabata, Santiago Bürgi, Gaia Petrone, Christopher Ainslie, and Javier Arrey round out the cast with Philipp Ahmann and Jean Bellorini conducting.

Performance Dates: August 24-Sept. 2, 2019

José Miguel Pérez Sierra conducts the a revival of Rossini’s “L”Italiana in Alergi” with Victoria Yarovaya and Evelyn Ramírez sharing the title role. Anton Rositskiy and Juan de Dios Mateo alternate Lindoro while Pietro Spagnoli and Ricardo Seguel share Mustafa.

Performance Dates: Oct. 5-11, 2019

The final opera of the season will be Gounod’s “Faust” in a production by André Heller-Lopes and Konstantin Chudovsky conducting.

Sergey Romanovsky and Juan Pablo Dupré share the title role while Brandon Paul Cedel and Daniel Miroslaw sing the villainous Mephistofele. Paulina González and Zhala Ismailova alternate Marguerite.

Concerts 

Ainhoa Arteta sings a concert with music by Federico García Lorca, Jesús García Leoz, Miquel Ortega, Pablo Sorozabal and Pablo Luna.
