Ainhoa Arteta has canceled her performances of Nedda in “Pagliacci” at La Monnaie.

The company announced that due to family matters, the Spanish soprano would not be able to participate in the new production.

As a result, Simona Mihai will take over the run. Mihai has performed the role of Nedda at the Royal Opera. She is also well known for her interpretations of Mimì and Musetta in “La Bohème” and has also performed works from Britten, Monteverdi, and Bizet.

”Pagliacci” is also set to star Carlo Ventre and Scott Hendricks. The opera will be showcased alongside “Cavalleria Rusticana” which will star Eva-Maria Westbroek, Teodor Ilincai and Dmitri Platanias. Evelino Pidò conducts the new production by Damiano Michieletto.
