Aida Garifullina, Maixm Mironov, Carlos Álvarez & Chen Reiss Lead Teatro alla Scala’s Fall Season

The Teatro alla Scala is set to open its fall season featuring three Rossini Operas, a work by Cavalli, and a Donizetti opera.

Here is a look at the upcoming fall season.

The season opens with Rossini’s “L’Italiana in Algeri” conducted by Ottavio Dantone. The cast includes Mirco Palazzi, Giulio Mastrototaro, Maxim Mironov, Antonino Siragusa, Roberto de Candia and Gaëlle Arquez in her La Scala debut.

Performance Dates: Sept. 10-18, 2021

Riccardo Chailly conducts Rossini’s “Il Barbiere di Siviglia” in a new staging by Leo Muscato. Maxim Mironov and Antonino Siragusa star as Almaviva alongside Marco Filippo Romano, Cecilia Molinari, Mattia Olivieri, and Mirco Palazzi.

Performance Dates: Sept. 30-Oct. 15, 2021

Erwin Schrott and Rosa Feola headline Rossini’s “Il Turco in Italia” with Diego Fasolis conducting Roberto Andò’s production. The cast also includes Giulio Mastrototaro, Antonino Siragusa, Alessio Arduini, Laura Verrecchia, and Manuel Amati.

Performance Dates: Oct. 13-25, 2021

Christophe Rousset leads the first production of Cavalli’s “La Calisto” at the Teatro alla Scala. David McVicar directs the company premiere with a star-studded cast that includes Chen Reiss, Olga Bezsmertna, Luca Tittoto, Veronique Gens, Christophe Dumaux, Luigi De Donato, Markus Werba, Chiara Amarù, Federica Guida, Svetlina Stoyanova, and Damiana Mizzi.

Performance Dates: Oct. 20-Nov. 13, 2021

The final work of the season will be Donizetti’s “L’Elisir d’Amore.” Michele Gamba conducts the production by Grischa Asagaroff which is set star Aida Garifullina, René Barbera, Davide Luciano, and Carlos Álvarez.

Performance Dates: Nov. 9-23, 2021

The capacity of the hall will only reach a maximum of 930 seats, as required by the current legislation.
